What it is
Harvest bin tracking that runs by itself
Smart Bin Eximus is a harvest bin tracking system for kiwifruit packhouses. It shows where every bin is, and whether it is full or empty, without anyone scanning anything.
What you see
One map shows every packhouse and every orchard you send bins to. Each site carries a count of the bins that are there, and a circle that shows how many are full and how many are empty.
The map is on your phone, tablet, laptop or PC, so the answer to "where are our bins?" is in your pocket.
How a bin moves through the cycle
A harvest bin spends the season going round the same loop. Eximus follows it the whole way.
- At the packhouse. The bin is empty and ready to go.
- Out to the orchard. A truckload of empty bins is counted out at the packhouse and counted in at the orchard.
- At the orchard. The bins go out from the loading bay empty and come back full. Each bin changes to full the moment it is back at the loading bay.
- Back to the packhouse. The full bins are counted out at the orchard and counted in at the packhouse.
- Tipped. The bin is tipped at the head of the production line and marked empty. It is ready for its next trip.
The end of one cycle is the start of the next. Nobody scans a bin or fills in a card at any step.
How it differs from bin cards, scanning and GPS tags
Packhouses keep track of bins today with bin cards, with apps that rely on someone scanning each bin or ticket, or with GPS tags. Eximus differs in three ways.
It runs by itself
No scanning, no paperwork and no extra labour at the busiest time of the year.
It sees empty bins too
Eximus follows the bin, not just the fruit, so an empty bin waiting at an orchard is counted as well.
Your data stays yours
Each packhouse's data is kept in its own private database, separate from every other customer's.

Proven in harvest
Smart Bin was trialled with a New Zealand kiwifruit packhouse in early 2026. Eximus is the commercial system that came out of that trial.
